What is a Sweet Bough?

Apples don’t grow “true to type” – meaning that if you cut open your favorite apple – let’s say it’s a sweet and juicy Mutsu – and planted 15 seeds, you’d get 15 totally different types of apple trees, and not a one would produce Mutsus.

So what does this all have to do with weddings? Well, we live in a region that’s abundant with apples, both wild and cultivated, so something apple-related seemed like a fitting symbol for the collective.  And we loved the image of every single wedding growing into something different and unique, just like saplings that spring forth from the seeds of an apple.

Sweet Bough Collective wants to support you both in the wedding that most represents the two of you – it may be unlike any wedding ever held before, or it may have one foot firmly in traditions that are meaningful for you and your families.  In either case, we’re here for you!

Our story

The collective was founded by Rachel Conroy ( Kinship & Company ) and Allison Usavage (photographer) in 2017 to create an inclusive and joyous wedding community in the Finger Lakes region. After 4+ years of cultivating this community and bringing together countless celebrations, Rachel and Allison have turned over the reins to Shawn Hull of Happiest Days Designs.

Shawn is committed to honoring the mission of Sweet Bough Wedding Collective in supporting couples planning weddings of all makes, shapes, and sizes in the Finger Lakes region, above and beyond her own clientele.
